Black tea (Camellia sinensis) is more oxidized than other kinds of tea. It is tronger in flavour and contains more caffeine than less oxidized teas. Known as red tea in Chinese because of the reddish colour of the infusion, in the Western world it is called black tea because of the colour of the oxidized leaves.
